Our History

JCI Mekong brings together young professionals dedicated to leadership development and meaningful community impact. This page can be expanded with key milestones, achievements, and stories.

JCI Cambodia was fully affiliated with JCI World Congress in Taiwan in 2012. We are grateful to our Founding President, Mr. CHY Sila, for bringing the opportunities of JCI with the vast resource and potential for young active citizens of Cambodia. JCI Cambodia has grown rapidly over the past decade and presently has Seven Local Chapters.

JCI Cambodia Mekong is one of the proud JCI Cambodia Local Chapters, founded in 2014 by Ms. DEK Dary and her board members. Over the years, JCI Cambodia Mekong has accomplished quite a number of notable projects. One of our significant projects is the Cambodia Young Entrepreneur Award (CYEA), which we have partnered with YEAC to encourage creativity in young entrepreneurs.

Message From 2026 Local President

Innovate with Respect, Lead with Impact

At this point in my journey in JCI, I can say that it has truly been a metamorphosing experience. I was able to experience what it was like to both be a follower and a leader. Fortunately enough my predecessors were ones that promoted growth in their followers to challenge and nudge them into a path of becoming leaders themselves rather than one of stagnating following. I can firmly say that if I were to ever be asked to give a testimonial to JCI, it would be that it is an organization that helps people break out from their shell should they ever be willing to.

Hence why I see JCI as such a valuable platform for today's youth, it allows them to experience necessary and harsh growth while still providing them with a stable foundation to fall back on, where they are allowed to challenge the ways of those before them without feeling ostracized. This is a point I try to make constantly, for the betterment of a society youth needs to be empowered rather than suppressed for what may seem at first as radical ideas.

But at the same time, although at the risk of being contradictory, I must say that homage must always be paid to those who came before us. Respect and recognition must be given to those who walked so that we can run. While we are surfing through the waters of time and causing waves of change we have to also remember to maintain and make sure that the experience and hardships of those before us is not lost to the currents of time.
